Siona (Sionna, Shona, Shannon, Sionainn)

Today’s baby name of the day is Siona.

Siona is the name of a Celtic fox goddess. Also spelled Shona, as that is how it is traditionally pronounced. But can also be spelled Sionna. It is the Gaelic name of the Irish city Shannon, which was named after a long river in Ireland. Some say it means little wise owl. In Irish, the name is Sionainn (sometimes also written as Siona or Sionna), the name of an Irish goddess named after the ancient river.
